In life there are few certainties. We’ve all heard the phrase “The only things certain in life are death and taxes.” Indeed, it’s a sad truism. No getting around it, but outside of death and taxes, things are not so black and white. In fact, I’ve found the only certain answer to most questions in life is “It just depends!” The same is certainly true with the answers to financial questions related to retirement.

Questions like:

• Do I need a retirement plan? • What are the financial risks in retirement? • Is it worth having a financial advisor or should I go it alone? • Are annuities bad? • Is long term care insurance worth the money? • Do I still need life insurance in retirement? • Should I pay off my mortgage when I retire? • How much money do I need to retire? • Does it make sense to do a Roth conversion? • Should I take my Social Security now or delay filing later? • Do I have to sign-up for Medicare at 65?

I can most assuredly tell you the answers to these questions is a solid “It just depends!” The bigger question is…depends on what?!? That indeed really is the question. I have dedicated this web page to answer the “depends on what?” questions. My hope is that your consideration of these questions and, more importantly, how your circumstances factor into them will help you achieve your own retirement dreams with confidence.

So please follow my blog, as I will continue to add questions…questions you may certainly be asking yourself. I hope you find it helpful, but then again…it just depends!

About the Author

Hi, my name is Randy Deaton. I have been in the financial services industry for over 30 years. I primarily work with individuals nearing or in retirement. They have hopes and dreams of things they still want to accomplish and experience in life.

To achieve these things, they want the best financial strategies, they want to mitigate financial risk, and they want to minimize taxes, but they don’t have the time to do all the research to make that happen. They want a guide to help them.

Through a proprietary process called the Tenzing Formula, we assist them by providing the retirement plan and the financial strategies that give them the confidence to make their dreams a reality.
